Minnesota’s longest running July 4th event starts July 2

NEW ULM — For the 152nd consecutive time, Minnesota’s longest running Fourth of July celebration starts at 9 a.m. Sunday, July 2 with a Cambria Presbyterian Church service with Rev. Penny Johnson.

Carole and Gerry Larson will provide church service music.

Live music, arts and crafts vendors in the Cambria park is set for 5-8 p.m. Sunday with DD & Roscoe and the Tanner Stark Band.

Fred’s Dogs Stand will be available. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring their own chairs, snacks and beverages.

Vendors include Danielle Deopere of Cambria who will bring laser-cut wood earnings, crystal bracelets, bath salts, macrame home decor and other items. Other vendors are More than Music, New Om Shop, KaardalKraft and Zeitgeist Gifting. New Om Shop features holistic items and natural jewelry. KaardalKraft created homemade, knitted baby blankets and Zeitgeist Gifting themed gift boxes featuring locally made items including clay earrings and assessories.

Fireworks begin at dusk Sunday.

Kids games in the park start at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 4. A community potluck starts at noon. Everyone is invited to bring a dish to share. The parade that goes down Main Street twice begins at 1 p.m. Parade participants are asked to not throw water balloons.

A patriotic program with patriotic readings, music and a community-sing-along starts at 2 p.m. in the town hall. The fancy cake auction follows. All proceeds from the auction and free-will donations support the Cambria fireworks fund and projects preserving Cambria township history. Donations can also be sent do Cambria Fourth of July Fund, 116 Oak St., New Ulm. 56073.

New Ulm’s July 4th celebration is set for 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Turner Hall Park. Features include a supervised, kid’s tent, live music, brats, burgers, an ice cream cart, root beer floats and beer. The Turner Ladies pie social will be held in the Founder’s Room.

Park entertainment includes Adam & The Jammers, Alpensterne, The Concord Singers and the Wendinger Band.

All proceeds benefit New Ulm Turner Hall. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket but no coolers.

Sleepy Eye’s July 4th in Allison Park runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Nights of Columbus will serve burgers, hotdogs and beverages. Fireworks begin about 9:30 p.m. Changes due to weather will be posted on Facebook.

Hanska July 4th fireworks begin at about 10 p.m. Tuesday in the ballpark.
